By E. Howard Hunt

Morgan was an ex-employee of the Agency who, as a younger man, did high-level dirty work for God and country and then went to prison for refusing to talk out of deference to an out-of-date idea: national security. Morgan's retirement peace is shattered by the news that Roger Hargrave, a onetime senior int he American inteligence community who defected to the Soviet Union a decade ago, wants to come out. Morgan doesn't like defectors. But when he is offered $200,000 to meet Hargrave, he agrees to go to Geneva. The Agency has provided a driver and an escort, and the four of them get in the car and head out of the airport. Morgan is the only one to leave the car alive. He has no choice but to run, trying to establish contact with his old connections. He doesn't understand what is going on on either side of the once Iron Curtain as, because of his curiosity, old friends suddenly die.
